The condenser, located at the top, cools the evaporated solvent, allowing it to circulate back to the extraction flask.

 The Soxhlet extractor operates on the principle of solvent reflux and siphoning. First, the solvent in the extraction flask is heated, causing it to vaporize and rise along the extraction tube. When the vapor reaches the condenser, it cools and condenses into a liquid, dripping onto the solid material. This process allows the solvent to dissolve the target compound in the solid, forming a solution. When the solvent level in the extraction tube reaches a certain value, the siphon device activates, returning the solution to the extraction flask. This cycle repeats continuously, ensuring that the solid material is continuously extracted until the desired compound concentration is achieved.
